Killua, Gon, Leorio and Kurapika are finally reunited. Gon and Killua are so incompetent at fighting the monsters on Greed Island that a Hunter named Biscuit has taken pity and offered to coach them in the use of their Nen powers. The Chimera Ant king is born, bursting from the stomach of the queen--a violent birth for a violent being. He makes his first move on the neighboring country by manipulating its dictator to summon all citizens to a ceremony at the capital. There he plans to Nen-baptize them, which will kill 99 percent of the population. The remaining one percent will have their Nen awakened, thus providing a healthy snack for the new king that not only tastes good but greatly increases his power. Can Gon and Killua find a way to stop this brutal Ant king?

Having lost their queen, the Chimera Ants are spreading beyond their native homeland to establish their own colonies. Some attack Meteor City, and the group of assassins known as the Spiders are called home to fend off the invasion. Meanwhile, in the Republic of East Gorteau, Gon and Killua realise that entire populations of towns are going missing. They decide to find out what's happening and try to stop it, but Gon soon realizes he's not alone, and whoever's following him is not friendly!

Killua is under attack!! Confronted with a sniper that's shooting Flea-Bullets from afar, Killua must predict where the next shot will hit or fall victim to the fleas that are draining all his blood. But there are more surprises in store as other snipers take a shot at him. Being a human dartboard was not on today's to-do list! Meanwhile, Gon's silent stalker finally reveals himself...with a proposition Gon never expected!

With the King preoccupied with playing Gungi, Gon and the other Hunters get closer and closer to their target. An unforeseen accident results in the deactivation of Neferpitou's En, making the defenses surrounding the castle temporarily vulnerable. The Extermination team readies for their showdown with the King, but with only a few days left before the "selection," will they be in time to save all the citizens from turning into Ant soldiers?!

As the midnight hour nears, all the Hunters are rarin' to go! With some surprising allies on their side, they launch their blitz against the ruthless Ants.
