О премии

Массачусетская книжная премия - ежегодная американская награда за значительные произведения художественной, документальной, поэтической и детско-юношеской литературы, опубликованные жителями Содружества или посвященные вопросам Массачусетса.

Премия подчеркивает работу жизненно важного современного писательского сообщества и побуждает читателей «внимательно прочитать» творческие работы, созданные авторами.

Награда была учреждена в 2001 году после образования Массачусетского центра книги (Massachusetts Center for the Book).

В течение года организаторами премии составляются списки «обязательных к прочтению» произведений в каждой из номинаций. Книги отбираются за оригинальность, живость и увлекательное изложение, а также за качество их публикации.

Из длинных списков в каждой номинации выбирается только один победитель. Лауреат объявляется на церемонии награждения в Доме штата Массачусетс или, при необходимости, на виртуальном мероприятии. Все награжденные и номинируемые книги пополняют специальные коллекции Государственной библиотеки Массачусетса, рекламируются по всему Содружеству и представляются на Национальном книжном фестивале.
