4.5 Поднятая целина южно-корейской промышленности

И жертвы технологического рывка и экономического прорыва Южной Кореи.

И параллельно тема творчества и женского и детского образования. Ну и сексизма, куда уж без него.

Книга очень хорошо заходит после другой корейской книги очень впечатляющей но суховатой в своём повествовании. Главная безымянная героиня вполне могла быть матерью Пак ЧжиЁн.(советую не читать всё же на русском, а на английском). Так и эту книгу я от греха подальше взяла на английском не ища русского перевода, которого впрочем и нет. Мне же ещё повезло и в сторителе была аудиокнига. и это чудесная история, где автор очень сухо рассказывает как женщины и не только жертвовали всем, чтобы поднять своих братьев или других родственников. А в принципе у них не было просто других возможностей.

не знаю всё же, что меня больше поразило - отсутствие рассказа о том, как девочка с фабрики стала писателем или то, как главная героиня старательно игнорирует всех прошлых своих знакомых. Свидетелей её постыдного что ли прошлого. Очень грустно от того, что это автобиографическая книга. Но, пожалуй, это биография все женской прослойки 50-80-х в Корее. И просто удручающе то, что это в принципе актуально с пересчётом на бессмысленную офисную работу для женщин. И всё также какие-то люди по разным параметром считаются обществом важнее остальных.

Luckily I'm pretty familiar with korean culture and have somebackground knowledge. So when I read that the guys - cousins andsiblings were sleeping on the floor - it wasn't the sign of their extreme poornes. It's ok even now in modern South Korea. But it's indeed a flur orpoorness when you see 3 people live in a room that is small even for one man. And while girls of course were supressed with the need of leaving the school and starting working and also taking care of the house for the brother. But their oppa was in a har position too. He had to study very hard and had to carry the burden of being the eldest. The age difference is very important in Korea. It was and it's still is. Oppas and onnies (older men and women) have to pay for the dinnerand their maknae (younger people) have to listen and do teh errands. Here we can see the odd picture of the main heroine and her older cousin being kind of equal. They work in teh same factory where one lies about the real age. They both get to go to teh evening shoool though for one is easier than for the other.

For me the most prominent for the arc in the plot about Union at the fabric. The girls were pretty clear that they were used my the factory and they were making the bare minimun wage neede to make the both ends meet. And then it was cut short as they wre in the union. People were leaving either union or the work and it was hard to find any worknot just a better job. Itresembles a lot what happens right now on the job market with the COVID. and pretty the same capitalism over all since the childhood of the author and her alter-ego - protagonist.

It was a very sad book. I believe some atmosphere was indeed lost in the translation. But it was still Korean. And I loved that regardless of teh book making me cry multiple times and strat thinking about how nothing ducking changes in the world.

I will recommend that book for anyone who is obviously either interested in the last hald of teh 20-th century of Asia. It's still in teh core of their culture and partially our culture.
